Quick Update... with some humor mixed-in

Tomorrow we have a walk-through for the movers to see how much stuff they will need to plan for. Tuesday we check out our key to our house on post and the movers pack us up. Wednesday we will begin our year residence on Fort Benning!!! We are very excited, but my head is spinning a bit.

We recently traded in Jake's Bronco for a GMC Sierra with voice command. Well, Jake was trying to tell the GPS where to navigate.
Jake: Set destination as home.
GPS: Preset radio AM.
Jake: Pretty much!! (with his adorable side smile!)

Meddac Dining Out

Last night, we attended the Meddac Dining Out. It was supposed to be open for all medical soldiers and civilians, but it was not really publicized that way. It ended up that Jake was the other soldier from Vet Comm that attended! So it was a slow start to our night. We had a nice meal, enjoyed some good jokes from the guest speaker, and had some good talks with Lt Col Faught (my doctor) and Col Warren (the hospital commander). Also, we spoke with Cpt Ament, an OR nurse, who heads up a soccer team. I told him to keep my name and I would love to sub for him if needed. It's been YEARS since I played soccer but that would so much fun!

By the end of the night (10:30 pm), we were the last ones standing around, talking with Col Warren. The DJ had quit, the tables were being cleaned off and put away, and, well, the place was empty. Way to party, Meddac! I'm glad we went though... Jake got to pin on his EFMB badge and wear it on his dress blues for the first time!

For all of you who have ever said I should be a model, this is proof that you are wrong!!! Jake said to pose and this is the best I came up with! I am such a dork.

Preschool

Wyatt has really been doing well at preschool. Yes, he occassionally goes to time out for some reason or another. But he has learned his alphabet (a,b,c,d,d,s,g,h,i,j,k,elemenopee, q,r,s,p,u,p,w,s,y,z) and how to count. Just this morning, he pulled out some spoons and wanted to count them. After lining them up on the couch, he proceded to count them, one through nine. It was pretty cool! Jake and I were very impressed. Not only did he count, he did one-to-one correspondance (pointed to one spoon as he said one number). And, boy, does this kid know songs! He still LOVES Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star but also enjoys singing Little Bunny Foo-Foo (especially the bopping on the head part) and Frere Jacques. It is amazing to watch Wyatt hit new milestones. I love you, Wywy!

Brotherly Love

Granted, it looks a little like a choke-out by Wyatt but he was trying to give his brother a hug for the camera. Wyatt absolutely LOVES Garett... and Garett is pretty obsessed with watching his big brother. We'll see how long this all lasts! :)

I went to put Garett down for his morning nap just a few minutes ago and then came back in his room to put some clothes away and this is how I found Goaty!!

Thank goodness for nap times! That is the only way I find the time to still blog with two kiddos!! :)

Oh My Gosh... I Forgot to Tell You!

HE IS CRAWLING!!!!!!!!!!!

Garett was exploring his toys on the floor this afternoon and saw the computer cord a few feet away. He obviously wanted to check it out 'cause he crawled himself right over to it! I did NOT see that coming. Yeah, he's been rocking and lurching every now and then, but this was flat out crawling! I was so excited... and then sort of freaked out. We now have to make sure the gate is up at the stairs!!! Anyhow, the only other times he crawled tonight were when he wanted to other cords, computers, or remotes. What's up with this kid? There are toys galore all around! Maybe he'll be a techie like his uncle! :)

Mommy and Garett, Daddy and Wyatt

Tonight has been a quiet one... Garett is asleep and I am headed to bed. What about Jake and Wyatt, you ask? Well, those two boys went camping! Well, kinda. Jake was asked to attend some Officer Professional Development down in southern Alabamer with some other officers from the district. They were going to visit a famous battle site from the Civil War. They opened it up for families but I decided to stay home. Jake willingly... yes, willingly... offered to take Wyatt along. I did, however, get a phone call this evening and in between Jake cutting out a ton, it sounded like Wyatt has pushed one too many buttons with Jake. I reminded Jake to relax a little bit. But I can not wait to hear how sleeping in the tent went! :)

The boys will be home tomorrow afternoon and then tomorrow night we are going to a Meddac dining out (yay, I get to get all dolled up again!). We are also going to go to post housing tomorrow to get our name on the list. That's a long story... point is, we get to move sooner than we had thought. Hooray!

Lots of Fun

For Christmas, my folks bought Garett this five piece Baby Einstein toy. Now that he is sitting up and can focus on something for more than a second, entertaining himself, he seems to be enjoying this toy. There are a few pieces that he doesn't do much with yet but he loves to see himself in the mirror, push buttons to watch the star light up, and play with the balls! I love watching Garett learn and grow.

By the way, he has a double ear infection! :( That has been part of his crabbiness besides cutting more teeth. But we found out he's over 20 pounds already (by 4 ounces). He's our chub!

I love you, Jake!

I know you absolutely hate yard work, honey. So I thank you soooo much for getting out there and mowing our yard before our vacation and once we got home. Thanks for always being willing to help me around the house (especially since it's mostly my mess, right?). Love you lots, Jake!

*If you notice, the grass was pretty high and thick. We've had a ton of rain lately and a couple tornadoes. Just Sunday we had to take cover under the stairs. A tornado touched down just about 4 miles down the road, doing some damage to the bowling alley and a mobile home dealer (houses were rolled over). It's hard to cut the yard when it's sopping wet!

Exhausted!

Xavier and Wyatt have become pretty good friends (Xavier is 2 and is one of the Scott sons). Wyatt asks me almost every day when he gets to see his buddy again! :)

This weekend, we had the Scotts over for dinner and drinks. After some play time, we were ready to lay all the boys down so the adults could enjoy some cocktails and Pictionary... my favorite game!!!! We set up a little bed for Xavier -- Jake pulled out a little pad we have and covered it with our sheep blanket. Xavier opted to sleep in Wyatt's bed with him! We turned on the movie Cars for them to entertain them while they went to sleep. This is how we found them!

Back to that Pictionary game...

We played one round as couples and then decided to go Boys vs. Girls. Of course, the teachers won!!! But there were definitely some close all-plays... like "bee"! :)

Thank you for saving my sins...

Easter is a great time of reflecting on the miraculous and the unimagineable: Jesus died and three days later rose from the grave, doing all of this for my (your) sins. It is unfathomable that a man would lay down his life for me so that I could have eternal life someday, erasing my sins that should send me to hell, but instead will allow me to one day walk on the streets of gold. Thank you, Jesus, for sacrificing yourself here on earth so I may one day be with you in heaven.

We had a nice Easter Sunday together as a family (atleast the morning part). Garett wore an outfit that was passed on from Luke (still with tags on), Wyatt wore an outfit that Grandma and Grandpa Barnoski bought during their last visit, Jake looked sheek in a nice shirt and khakis, and I wore a beautiful dress that Andy picked out at Macy's for me! We went to church on post but it was so full that Wyatt couldn't go to Sunday School, there were too many kiddos and not enough help. Garett, on the other hand, was the last one they could accept in his class. Thank goodness... sitting through service with one was hard enough! Wyatt did pretty good. He watched us sing, said a prayer with us, colored a little during service, and then just rested on daddy for the remainder of the service.

After church, we headed out to the Cloutier's house to drop off the boys. They will stay there for the week while Jake and I have some grown-up time in Florida. Wyatt got to do an easter egg hunt with the Cloutier kids shortly after we left. I don't think he misses us just yet! :)

Hanging Out with Good Friends

We have really gotten to be good friends with the Scott family: Daine (a Jumpmaster at Fort Benning), Jessica (a 3rd grade teacher), Xavier (2 yrs. old), and Maxton (just days younger than Garett). They live out in Fort Mitchell so it's a little drive to visit but it will be better when we live on post in a few months!

We headed out to their place Saturday with pizza and beer (oh, and a movie, "The Day the Earth Stood Still"... don't worry, the boys were in watching a kids' movie in Xavier's room). They just bought a trampoline so Wyatt had an absolute blast hanging out on that. I took him out on it shortly after getting there. Making sure no one was looking, I tried the good ol' back flip just to see if I still could do it. Surprisingly, I landed it! Wyatt asked to do it too. His version was falling back on his butt... good start! I helped him flip all the way over.

We've really enjoyed having a family that we all get along with. I am glad I was sent to Westview to teach or else we wouldn't be friends with the Scott family! :)

Ready, Set, Relax!

This weekend, Jake and I will be heading down to Florida for a vacation. Yes, I said JAKE and ME, no kiddos! Barbara Cloutier, the other Army vet on post, will be watching our boys for the week. And the dogs, well, I think they are staying up at the post kennel. That's Jake's to figure out.

We are staying at Rhonda's house (she's the vet down at Eglin AFB) while she is away in TX. We are planning on going to the beach, eating seafood, having some cocktails, and, oh yeah, the beach!!! :) Jake looked into a few events like a dinner cruise so we'll see about that. I mainly plan on playing in the sand and water, boogie boarding, and maybe try some surfing since the waves might be good with some weather out at sea... that's what weather.com says!
